Grab your carry-on and some watercolors and join me for Hidden Treasures - a bite-sized art workshop to help you savor the delicious morsels of travel! If you are itching to get away after COVID lockdowns and would like to amplify the tingle of discovery through a simple, travel-friendly art practice, then Hidden Treasures is for you.

In this fun and lighthearted workshop you’ll learn how to use sketching and watercolor to train your gaze to things that might otherwise get overlooked. This is not about capturing sunsets or sweeping vistas - it is about elevating simple objects that tell the sweet stories that you don't want to forget. I’ll also be sharing the contents of my small but mighty art supply kit that is carry-on friendly and light enough to tuck in a backpack (which I did...across Spain...for 550 miles).

I’m over-the-moon excited for Hidden Treasures because I get to share the art practice that helps me connect more thoughtfully to each day of a trip; it’s so much fun to tell stories through single, mundane objects! PLUS, I created this course WHILE traveling! You’ll join me for a trip to my childhood cabin in Alaska where I show you how I uncover and celebrate the hidden treasures I find there. But most importantly, and what excites me the very most about this workshop, is helping YOU use a simple painting practice to uncover your OWN hidden treasures.

Testimonials from my recent class Finding the Joy: 30 Days of Gratitude

Jenny Loughmiller’s class was ONE OF THE BEST I’VE EVER TAKEN. She opened her heart to us, and in turn, we opened our hearts to her. For some of us, it was life changing. I hope she teaches more classes. I am in New Mexico, she is in Oregon but I feel she is close enough to help with problem with painting and other art endeavors. This art and gratitude class just reinforced the gratitude I have been expressing for years. Now, another dimension.

Jenny Loughmiller is an artist and a teacher. There is a depth of art knowledge to learn, techniques to be practiced, and fun to be had. She challenges her students to look at problems to be solved. Her emphasis is on process rather than product. But in the process amazing product is produced.

I am always looking for ways to keep my brain sharp. So when I heard about an opportunity to take a virtual art class by Jenny Loughmiller, I approached it as an important exercise for my brain. I never expected to have so much fun, meet such nice participants, and be surprised by new ways of seeing color and patterns and designs. Every class was a delightful surprise of a new technique. Her teaching style is approachable and very playful. She treats each question with fun curiosity and collaboration. I expected to be way out of my comfort zone, into a place of anxiety. No so! My brain was relaxed AND excited each time. I was made more comfortable being in my own home, not comparing my art with my classmates, which was possible with the Zoom format. The icing on the cake was the topic of daily gratitude for a month. How could that be anything but good for my brain, body and soul?
